Google Dorking Against the Competition
Google Dorking is essentially the art of using advanced searchess in Google (and other search engines) to find specific information that is normally not readily visible through regular searches. By crafting specific search queries, you can find hidden documents and data. Granted it can be used for cybercriminals for nefarious purposes like find exposed databases, vulnerable websites, or private information that wasn’t intended to be easily accessible.
But Google Dorking can be used for legitimate purposes like security research. It also is especially useful when researching a frim – either if you are interviewing there and want more insight or if you are competing against them.
If the term “Dork” triggers you in any way, it’s also known by other names like “Google Hacking.” The term “dork” refers to the way these advouanced search queries can expose information that isn’t easily found, often revealing details that might have been overlooked by website administrators.
The main paramtter I use is site combined with two other parameters. Those are intitle: and filetype:, sometimes separate and sometimes combined. I’ll give some examples here, but it will be challenging to pick some real world examples. I might anonymize some but use real data in the screenshots.
