First Week, Onboarding Complete!
It’s been an energizing week. So refreshing to be someplace where people use Email and Chat (Slack) with Discipline. Having experienced where people will go 3 and 4 days without responding to either for items with deadlines defeats the passion and growth potential. It also is enlivening to be someplace where the bulk of the company have their calendars visible by default. Otherwise the lack of transparency makes it makes it hard to be a team. More so when people keep the next 4 to 5 days of their calendar 100% filled in “so they can get work done”. This causes you to have no visibility to suggest better times to work on “team projects”. Especially when those same people don’t respond to communication (Slack/email) attempting to collaborate.
With Extreme Ownership, I will handle things different next time I’m in an environment where people are not responsive or not transparent with their calendar. I’ve got my ideas, but I am curious – how would you deal with either situation?
